Andrew Garfield and Monica Barbaro Have Sweet Meetup After He Skips Met Gala

Monica Barbaro attended the 2025 Met Gala in New York City on Monday, May 5, alone, but met up with Andrew Garfield after the night’s festivities. EOPLE first confirmed the two were “quietly dating,” per a source, in February after they were seen attending a show in London. Garfield and Barbaro were later spotted together following the 2025 Oscars, as they attended an afterparty thrown by Beyoncé and Jay-Z
While Andrew Garfield and Monica Barbaro didn’t make their romance red carpet official at the 2025 Met Gala, they reunited shortly after.

Video footage captured by Cosmopolitan shows Garfield, 41, waiting for Barbaro, 34, at The Mark Hotel after the Monday, May 5, event, which had a “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme.

The Tick, Tick … Boom! actor, wearing a casual look consisting of a black graphic tee underneath a blue button-up and slacks, smiled as he waited for Barbaro, who shortly later greeted him with a hug. Garfield was also wearing a baseball hat and carrying a black tote bag.

In the clip, the A Complete Unknown actress is seen wearing a dress different from what she wore to the Met Gala.

Following the event, Barbaro changed into a black tulle embroidered Fall-Winter 2025 Dior dress that she paired with a black Lady Dior bag.

Barbaro wore a recreation of a 1947 New Look design by Dior for the 2025 Met Gala itself, according to Harper’s Bazaar. The look was made of a white jacket with a pleated black tulle skirt. Barbaro accessorized with black gloves and a boater hat.

The event marked Barbaro’s debut at fashion’s biggest night, while Garfield has not attended the Met Gala since 2019.

PEOPLE first confirmed Garfield and Barbaro were dating on Feb. 21, with a source saying the two have “been really lowkey and have been spending time together quietly.” (Reps for both actors did not respond to requests for comment at the time.)

The couple were later spotted together following the 2025 Academy Awards, as they attended an afterparty thrown by Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

The We Live in Time actor and Top Gun: Maverick actress were first photographed together at W Magazine’s Best Performances party in Los Angeles on Jan. 4, along with Eddie Redmayne and Lynn Hirschberg.

They were later seen in February at a performance of Richard II at the Bridge Theatre on London’s West End, starring Jonathan Bailey. In a video posted on social media Feb. 20, Garfield and Barbaro, who were dressed casually, could be seen chatting before the show began.
