The Ketu South Municipal capital, Aflao, has been selected by EventicGH, organizers of the Volta Music Awards (VMAs) to host the maiden edition of the scheme’s nominees jam.
The jam scheduled for February 16th would witness performances from an array of about 40 artists nominated for the 2nd edition of the VMAs, including the 2018 VMAs Artist of the Year, Agbeshie.
Other artists billed for the event which would be staged at the Aflao Low-Cost park are Keeny Ice, K D Bakes, Kush Elikem, 22 Foli, J J Gonami, Remy J, Chrisphoebus Linchpin, Kasare, Erastus, Jessy and Chief One.
The Chief Executive Officer of EventicGH, Ashiaby Kwamivi,explained Aflao was selected to host the nominees jam “based on popular demand” and the immerse contributions of the ‘border city’ to the growth of creative arts in the Volta Region.
“All our events concerning the awards is centered in Ho and we want other parts of the region to also have a feel [of activities of the awards scheme]”, he added in an interview with Ghanaweb.
The 2019 Volta Music Awards ceremony headlined by Helloadipa, an online shop, will be held on March 14 at the Ho Technical University auditorium.
EventicGH has assured awardees in selected categories would receive plaques with prize packages.
The awards scheme was introduced in 2018 to identify and honor deserving artists of Volta origin, who have made strides in the region’s creative art industry and Ghana at large.
