The exclusion of Bernard Terkpetey from Ghana’s squad for the 2019 AFCON has ignited massive disquiet in the West African country, with social media crumbling on coach Kwasi Appiah.
The Ghana coach named a 29-man squad for a 3-week camping in Dubai ahead of the tournament which starts on 21st June.
The squad will be trimmed to 23 for the tournament after the camping in Dubai.
But conspicuously missing from the list is in-form new Schalke 04 striker Bernard Terkeptey.
The exclusion of the striker who staged a wonderful outing this season for SC Paderborn 07, scoring 11 goals in 36 appearances and managing 7 assists has raised a lot of question within the Ghanaian media.
The Ghanaian catapulted SC Paderborn 07 to the Bundesliga from the Bundesliga II but Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah invited strikers who failed to hit the double-digit mark ahead of Terkpetey.
Ghanaians on Twitter and Facebook have launched a scathing attack on the coach, questioning the rationale behind the exclusion of Terkpetey from the squad.
Following his swashbuckling performance for SC Paderborn 07, Terkpetey has been re-signed by Schalke 04 for the 2019/20 season.
