Aaron Carter’s sister has threatened to “kill” herself. More than seven months after the tragic death of the “I Want Candy” singer, his older sister Bobbie Jean Carter told police she was going to take her own life in the wake of her arrest for store theft and drug possession.
The 41-year-old was revealed to have made the warning in the arrest report that was obtained by TMZ. She reportedly told deputies, “I’m just going to have to kill myself,” while on the way to jail after being taken into custody. As a result, she was said to have been placed under suicide watch.
Bobbie had a run-in with the law in Hernando County, Florida. She was alleged to have stolen six art and craft items, which were worth more than $55, from Hobby Lobby. The retail’s loss prevention crew informed sheriff’s deputies they saw her take the products from the racks and place them in her bag, but failed to pay for the items when she later walked out.
When the deputies escorted Bobbie into the store’s loss prevention office, she was said to have panicked, grabbed her bag and threw a blue container of powder under a desk. The deputies claimed that the fallen container had 1.3 grams of white substance and 0.8 grams of purple powder in it.
When tested, the purple powder Bobbie had was positive for fentanyl. It led to her being charged with one count of retail theft and one count of fentanyl possession. She reportedly remains in detention.
Page Six additionally reported that Bobbie’s court documents uncovered she has been charged with petit theft. She has also applied for indigency, which means she requested for a court-appointed lawyer.
Bobbie was not the only one in her family struggling with drugs. Her late brother, Aaron, suffered years of addictions prior to his tragic death. In August 2022, he talked about his rehab on talk show “K’LA Afterdark”. “I think I turned into the real, true authentic version of myself. I went into to rehab four times I finally got it right,” he stated at that time.
