6ix9ine‘s image was recently immortalized on a mural in his mother’s home country of Mexico, however, it lies in one of the city’s most dangerous areas.
During a short visit to his mother’s homeland, the rapper stopped by one of Mexico City’s most dangerous neighborhoods, Tepito. The area has been nicknamed “Barrio Brava” which means fierce neighborhood.
However, when 6ix9ine touched down, he was met with tons of love, almost being mobbed by fans. He also came across a mural dedicated to him, which gave him the chance to meet fans and take pictures while he admired the artwork.
Tepito is a hotbed of drug and firearm trafficking, theft, and other crimes. On the other hand, there have been debates that the city’s nickname is rooted in the resilience of its inhabitants in the face of extreme poverty and injustice.
6ix9ine seems to be enjoying his time in Mexico. He was recently spotted enjoying an unusual treat — a tarantula. The rainbow-haired rapper posted a picture of his bugged-out meal on Instagram last week.
Adding some guacamole and another sauce to presumably make it more palatable, 6ix9ine chomped down on half of the large spider (which is technically not an insect, but an arachnid) before sharing it with the person next to him.
The rapper has eaten bugs before, however. In a new bizarre trend, the rapper filmed himself eating bugs earlier this month.
When it comes to going viral, Tekashi is never afraid to try out new methods. In April, footage emerged of the Brooklyn rapper singing along with some friends to his Latin-tinged single “Y Ahora.”
As the track roars in the background, 6ix9ine and some shirtless friends were spotted snacking on insects while he chugged on Tito’s Vodka straight from the bottle, presumably to help him wash the bugs down.
Tekashi even fed some of the midges to another friend in the room, who opted for Don Julio 1942 as their alcohol of choice.
