2 Chainz & Lil Durk Pay Tribute To Young Dolph On ‘Colbert’

2 Chainz’s new album Dope Don’t Sell Itself finally arrived on Friday (February 4) and the Atlanta native got the party started with a special performance of one of the standout records on the project.

On Thursday night (February 3), 2 Chainz hit up The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to perform “Lost Kings” for the first time on late-night television. Lil Durk and Sleepy Rose joined the Drench God on a stage setup that honored several fallen Hip Hop soldiers such as Young Dolph, Nipsey Hussle, King Von and Bankroll Fresh.

Sleepy Rose kicked off the performance in front of a screen showing an image of Dolph before 2 Chainz took over in front of a mural honoring the recently departed. Lil Durk followed Tity Boi and Rose by making his appearance on a park bench as the screen behind him continued to remember those who have passed away.

“Lost Kings” is track number nine on Dope Don’t Sell Itself. The 12-song project also features Moneybagg Yo, Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, 42 Dugg, NBA YoungBoy, Swae Lee, Stove God Cooks, Jacquees and more.

In our review of Dope Don’t Sell ItselfHipHopDX gave the album a 2.5 out of 5 score, describing it as a project “laced with traphouse fetishes that lost their thrill.”

While he’s currently promoting the new album, 2 Chainz is already looking ahead to his next release. During a recent interview with DJ Akademiks, Tity Boi revealed plans for a ColleGrove sequel with Lil Wayne that’s scheduled to drop later in 2022.

“We’re actually in the process of mixing it and [Lil Wayne’s] on every single song,” he said. “We were in the studio together. I think the last time we were in the studio together maybe twice. This time, we’ve been in the studio together multiple times working on this project.”

“I feel super excited about this fucking project because it don’t sound like nothing I’ve ever heard before. And doing something like that with Wayne, it’s welcoming, it’s warming and it’s going to be accepted.”
