Ateenage girl, who was forced into a sex racket by three women in Chennai, managed to escape and get back home, a report said on Thursday.
According to the report in Times of India, the 15-year-old girl was detained by a woman at a house in Purasawalkam and gangraped by five men for about five days before she managed to flee on Monday.
Pulianthope police, acting on her mother’s complaint, arrested the three women. They accused have been identified as Sabeena, 31, a resident of Annai Sathya Nagar, Mubeena Begum, 37, of Pulianthope and Nisha, 36, of Purasawalkam.
Sabeena and Mubeena Begum reportedly lured the girl with promises of lucrative employment, while Nisha confined her to her residence and forced her into sex trade.
All three women have previous cases of prostitution pending against them, the police ws quoted in Times of India as saying. The accused are being questioned for details about the five men, the report said.
The all-women team of the Pulianthope police station has collected mobile phone numbers of the men and the girl is to be sent for medical examination to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital.
The victim’s mother is a daily wage labourer and they live with her grandmother in Pulianthope.
On July 3, the girl had left the home after an argument with her grandmother. On July 6, her mother lodged a missing person complaint at Pulianthope station.
The police later found out that the girl knew one of the accused Sabeena for some time and had gone to meet her on July 3. Later, they met Sabeena’s neighbour Mubeena Begum, who promised her a job. The two took her to Nisha’s residence, where she was locked in a room.
Over the course of next few days, five men allegedly entered the room and raped her, a police official told the daily.
“She managed to escape from the room and reached her house on Monday,” added the officer.
